Who is eligible?
This is an invite-based bursary, based on student’s academic performance and qualification.
-Invited students will be rated according to academic performance.
-Invitations doesn’t guarantee that the bursary will be awarded.
South African citizens
UNISA undergraduate and postgraduate (NQF level 6 to 8) students who’ve attained an average of at least 60% on their prior academic year of study
Students who are temporarily registered and registered (by 31 January 2024)
Financially needy and academically deserving students – “missing middle” category
Only Students registered for the following qualifications are invited:
Medicine
Technology
Visual arts
Music and the faculty of Health Science
What does the bursary cover?
Tuition fees
prescribed textbooks
Transport allowance
Any related study costs and laptop computer (only applicable to 1st time bursary recipients)

Other UNISA Bursaries
There are other Unisa bursaries such as Unisa Merit bursary. Students who received the bursary in the current year do not need to apply. Such students must, however, meet the 75% average to be considered for the bursary in the next academic year.
More About Unisa Merit Bursary

Bursary conditions for Unisa Merit Bursary
Students must have obtained an average of at least 75% and above in their previous year of study.
The bursary is only awarded to South African citizens registered for a formal qualification in any discipline at Unisa.
The bursary covers tuition fees and prescribed textbooks only.
