EA and GSA Contracts Extended for Another 5 Months

The waiting and curiosity is now over for the Education Assistants and School General Assistants appointed under The Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) programme by Basic Education Department in November last year. IOL reported that the EA and GSA Contracts Extended for Another 5 Months from from April 2022 to August 2022.

Limpopo Education Department

The Limpopo Education Department has already sent a directive circular informing the District Directors, Circuit Managers, School Principals and School Governing Bodies about their extension of employment of youth placed in schools as part of Phase II of the PYEI programme.

39 429 Contracts Extended in Limpopo

The provincial department indicated that they are extending the contracts of 39 429 youth appointed as part of PEYI phase II programme.  The extension of the programme will become phase III of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention.

In the circular, the department said “To ensure continuity, maintain stability and sustain impact in schools, the youth appointed in schools as at 28 February 2022 will be offered new fixed-term contracts commencing on 1 April 2022 until 30 August 2022.”

Currently, 280 000 were placed on phase II of this programme, a further 5 months has been added until August 2022. The department said “This will also give the youth an opportunity to use the skills they have acquired through the training provided to them in Phase II.
