The Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is a branch of the Gauteng Department of Education that aims to promote skills development in Gauteng. They offer bursaries, learnerships and internships in order to contribute to skills development for unemployed youth in the region.

GCRA Bursary Application 2022
GCRA is offering bursaries to students who want to continue with their studies but lack the financial resources to cover the cost of their studies. This bursary covers undergraduate students in the region and fund any field of study. Student will just have to meet the minimum requirement for them to be considered for the 2022 bursaries.
What does the GCRA Bursary cover?
The bursary will cover the following expenses:
Registration fees
Tuition fees
Accommodation cost
Books
Laptop
Those staying in residence will receive a maximum amount of R 65,000. Students residing off-campus or in private accommodation will receive a maximum of R 47,000. GCRA will calculate the final amount each bursar will receive.

GCRA Bursary Requirements 2022
The eligibility requirements for Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) Bursary 2022 are that you as the applicant:
Must be a South African citizen
Must reside within the Gauteng province
Must be between the age of 18 to 35 at the time of applying
Must have completed Matriculation
Students on an undergraduate programme must be either studying or have registered themselves to study at a PSET (Post School Education and Training) that’s registered and accredited.
Postgrad students must be either studying or have registered themselves to study at an institution of higher learning
Must have a strong academic record.
How to apply for GCRA Bursary 2022
Before you apply, make sure that you have the following required documents to attach to your application:
- Certified copy of South African ID(by birth)
- Proof of Gauteng residence(utility bill or letter from ward councilor)
- Matric Certificate and or latest academic results(certified)
- Proof of income from parent(s) or guardian(s) or affidavit
- Letter of Motivation(not more than 2 pages)
- Proof of registration or acceptance letter from PSET institution
- Disability or medical report(where applicable)
Steps to follow to apply for the bursary:
Step 1: Go to GCRA Bursary Website https://gcrabursary.gauteng.gov.za/
Step 2: Click on Apply/Register.
Step 3: Returning student must Login or new student must register on the portal. Then click “next”. Then click “go to registration”. Read and accept the POPIA disclaimer by ticking a box provided.
Step 4: Complete the registration form to create a profile
Step 5: Login and complete the online application form
Step 6: Attach the necessary documents
