How to Apply for Government Jobs in South Africa

If you are looking for a government job in South Africa, you need to know the best places to find government jobs advertisements. On this post, we share with you how to apply for government vacancies in South Africa. Learn all about it below.

Introduction

The South African Government have a dedicated website where they post vacancies in different national and provincial departments. The website is dpsa.gov.za

They publish weekly vacancy circulars which contains the advertisements of vacant posts and jobs in Public Service departments. Although the Circular is issued by the Department of Public Service and Administration, the Department is not responsible for the content of the advertisements

Z83 Application Form

Applications on form Z83 with full particulars of the applicants’ training, qualifications, competencies, knowledge and experience (on a separate sheet if necessary or a CV) must be forwarded to the department in which the vacancy/vacancies exist(s).

What prospective applicants must do?

PLEASE USE THE NEW Z83 WHICH IS EFFECTIVE AS AT 01 JANUARY 2021.

Applicants must indicate the reference number of the vacancy in their applications.

Applicants requiring additional information regarding an advertised post must direct their enquiries

to the department where the vacancy exists. The Department of Public Service and Administration

must not be approached for such information.

It must be ensured that applications reach the relevant advertising departments on or before the

applicable closing dates.

How to access DPSA Vacancies Website and apply?

Step 1: Go to DPSA Vacancies website via this link https://www.dpsa.gov.za/newsroom/psvc/

Step 2: Click on the latest Vacancy circular title eg ‘Circular 16 of 2022’

Step 3: Click on each of the National or Provincial Departments you are interested in viewing the job advertisements.

Step 4: Check carefully the job description, job requirements, application procedure and all relevant information.

Step 5: Download the Z83 Application Form published January 2021.

Step 6: Complete the Z83 Application Form correctly and include copies of your CV if required.

Step 7: Put the completed Form and accompanying documents into an A4 Size envelope.

Step 8: Hand deliver or post to the addresses provided.

That will be all, repeat the process for other positions you are interested in. Remember to put applications in separate envelopes for each position.
