Whether you have passed or not, there is always an option for you. If you have passed congratulations, there are plenty of opportunities for you. But if you have not passed, don’t despair, there are also opportunities for you. Read more below to find out what options are available for you after matric.
Let’s start with those who have passed matric.
For you, matric pass may mean a lot of opportunities, we list some below:
Learnerships
You can find learnership opportunities for people with grade 12. Learnerships are programmes where you can be trained at the same time getting paid at the same time. Learnerships mostly run for a period of 12 months. When you exit a learnership programme, you may have opportunities to be absorbed as permanent employee or for a longer contract.
Higher certificate studies
You may register with institutions of higher learning such as universities, university of technology for higher certificate programmes. The qualification you get from these courses can lend you a good job.
National Diploma
Here also, you can register with colleges, universities, universities of technology or TVET colleges for diplomas in the fields that you qualify for. Diplomas are some of most recognised qualifications on land.
Bachelor’s degrees
A bachelor’s degree is a basic degree you can get after completion of such studies with universities and universities of technology. It can get you a good job and also add value to your life. With the knowledge and skills gained, you can even employ yourself.
Workforce absorption
Jobs for people with matric with no experience. Most of job opportunities these days require someone with matric. Acquiring matric certificate puts you in an advantage of getting better offer than if you do not have matric.
Now, let’s talk about those without matric
TVET Colleges
Technical And Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges an entry requirement is just grade 9. The Western Cape Government website state that “If having a good paying job or a business of your own is 1 of your goals, then studying at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college might be suited for you.” That’s it; I need not to say anything more.
TVET colleges offer trainings where you can exit as a business person or find good paying jobs in private of public institutions. With the demand of artisans in different streams such as plumbing, carpentry, electricians, builders and more, one can be convinced that there are opportunities waiting to be grabbed out there.
Starting own business
With little investment, you can start your own business or daily hustling and make a lot of money. Isn’t that we want to get training so that we make money? Even without matric you can strategise and make money. There are people at various areas making a fortune because they did not let the matric results be the deciding end of their career. You can start small and grow big if you are dedicated to your work.
Informal job opportunities
For you to get money to start your business, you can start with informal job opportunities. Save money and start your business at a later stage. There are a lot of people who have started just like that. Don’t give up without trying.
