Have You Lost Your Certificate?
Having lost your Grade 12 certificate can be stressful but hey don’t stress too much because there is a solution. The Department on Basic Education has systems in place to reprint or replace your certificate on request. The following are the guidelines to do a matric certificate reprint or replacement.
Application for Matric Certificate Replacement
Apply for replacement of your matric certificate (National Senior Certificate) at the Department of Basic Education or provincial department of education if you have lost or damaged your original certificate. You may apply and pay for the re-issue online on government eServices website.
Statement of Results Request
You can request the statement of results while waiting for the release of your certificate. If the certificate is damaged, you must return the damaged certificate to the department of Basic Education.
Please note: Applying for your lost or damaged matric certificate might differ from one province to another.
Change of status
If you wrote matric in more than one examination sitting and you want to combine your credits to qualify for a National Certificate, you must apply for replacement certificate: change of status. The department does not automatically combine your credits, unless you took a supplementary exam. You can also apply for this online.
Confirmation of Statement of Results
You can apply for confirmation statement of results while waiting for the National Senior Certificate.
