PYEI Phase 3 Education Assistant and GSA [Who Qualifies?]
The Basic Education Department’s PYEI phase 3 programme is expected to start from April 2022 to August 2022. The department has extended the PYEI contracts which were suppose to end at the end of March 2022 for another 5 months.
What to expect?
It seems that there will be no new application window to be opened for applications as the current candidates’ contracts were just extended.
Who qualifies for PYEI phase 2 for 2022?
The Basic Education Department’ Spokesperson posted a poster on his Twitter page titled: Who qualifies to be in phase III. The document outlines the requirements for one to be part of the PYEI Education and General School Assistant programme in 2022.

Here are the qualifying criteria
Candidate must be of the 18-35 years of age.
Must be residing in the Republic of South Africa and to hold a valid South African identity document or work permit.
Residing within 5 to 8 KM radius from the school
Must have attended all days and performed the work assigned to them.
Not studying part-time of full-time.
Not receiving government grants or benefits such as NSFAS, Funza Lushaka and the R350 SRD Grant.
Not receiving any other stipend, wage or salary.
Must have no criminal record
Not unfairly advantaged above others due to staff of SGB members knowing them.
Must not be participating on any learnership programme.
Not involved in any misconduct during Phase I or Phase II
