Rand West City Municipality Bursary for 2026
Bursary Details
Applications for this bursary are still open until 25 November 2025. See details and send your applications on time.
The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees and study materials.
The bursary may also cover accommodation and food allowance for selected applicant, as per individual student needs.
Who Can Apply for this Bursary?
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must reside within the Rand West City Local Municipality, in Gauteng province
- You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- You must be studying or intend on studying full time towards an undergraduate qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
- You must be studying or have been provisionally accepted to study at a public University or public institution of higher learning in South Africa
- Your qualification must be for a minimum of 1 or 3/4 academic years
- Your parents/ guardian must have a total joint household income of NOT more than R350 000 per annum
- Preference will be given to students from families who are registered on indigent database categories
- Preference will be given to students from a disadvantaged background

Alternatively, application forms can be collected at Rand West City Local Municipality Offices in Randfontein, Westonaria and all its public libraries (during working hours).
Submit copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric latest results, if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate, if completed Matric
- Recent academic record, if currently studying
- Proof of application/ admission/ provisional admission to a tertiary institution (with projected study duration, course scope and tuition costs)
- Proof of residence
- Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
- Parents death certificate, if deceased (certified copies)
- Parents/ guardians proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed or self employed/ proof of social grant if applicable)
- Doctors certificate, if permanently disabled
