Unisa Announcement

On their announcement page, Unisa on the 7th of April 2022 said that their contract with Intellimali, a company that used to disburse students allowances on behalf of the University has came to an end.

Unisa and Intellimali Contract End

The announcement reads “The three-year agreement between UNISA and Intellimali for the disbursements of allowance has come to an end on the 31st March 2022.”

Payment directly to students bank acount

The announcement continues to indicate that the university is in a process to make direct payment to students accounts. “UNISA is in the process of preparing to pay allowances directly to students’ bank accounts. Students are therefore requested to ensure that they have active bank accounts.”

The university will direct the students on further processes to be followed in order to send their banking details to the university.  “Students will be directed to a platform to capture their banking details.”

When will Unisa pay NSFAS Allowances for 2022?

The announcement indicated the following “The university is working tirelessly to ensure that allowances are released during this month of April 2022.”

Meanwhile NSFAS recently indicated that students allowances will be paid on the 8th of April 2022 since they have received their allocated budget from the National Treasury.

Thus sounds like a fairy tale. When di Unisa knew that by end of March 2022 Intelli mali will come to an end. I believe that it was known three years long time back. Why it now told to public Unisa should have been having bank information platforms for every student long time even from beginning of the year in 2022. Whoever is in charge of this has no sympathy or take student seriously. Unisa sounds to be irresponsible, not reliable, or even not accountable for the future of students. This money should be released in the beginning of of year immediately after registration so that students should be able to get stationary on time even days. How Unisa expect someone to do Assignment properly while lake of funds is being delayed by them. Students need to be paid immediately after first registration and immediately after second registration. No more announcements needed only action, every student should send banking details by Unisa platform or Unisa email address so that payment should begin. Na nkhensa.

Haven’t bought prescribed books for this first semester and exams will commence on May. God help me get my degree so I could part way permanently with UNISA and I will or advise the next person to register with the institution.. UNISA always frustrate students forgetting that they are dealing mostly with adults.. I feel like I’m enrolling with a fly by night institution very very disappointed with their management as a whole

But UNISA is sooo unfair…all students from other universities got their allowances way back beside us…worse we need to buy data because they dont provide us with it…worse our monthly allowance (R290) is not enough for us, something needed to be done here…we all coming from poor families, we also dirseve the monthly allowance of R1500 like others…this thing of delaying our allowances have an impact in the rate of failing students…when are we gonna buy books?? When are we gonna start with our assignments???

Their contract with Intellimali has ended, that’s why you will get your allowance directly to bank account.

Nah that was already in the system just as last year, so you won’t be issued with an intemalli card

I am not happy with Unisa announcement . Even last year we got allowances during May.If they were really working tirelessly to make sure we get allowances during this month they would have had a method in place already as to how they’re going to pay us as their students. It’s hard to do assignments without proper study material. We don’t have money to buy prescribed books or even data. Being a student at UNUSA is daunting and energy draining. The question is when will we get allowances? When ? Unisa and its incompetence. Argh

Not happy at all, first of all we writing exams in May/June and we have to buy textbooks and the assignment are already missed because of lack of study materials.

As a student at unisa I’m not happy about the way they are Treating us, some of us we are relying on on this money the more the delay the more we are suffering, I’m not working I have to buy data and food

I’m not happy, UNISA will delay the payment process!

  10. Pule Perold says:

NSFAS and UNISA, are just incompetent and they don’t care about students’ futures. We already submitted more than 10 assignments already, without having Learning material. They just don’t care, don’t they‍!

I haven’t even got an sms saying I should fill my banking details or should I go to school?

I’m not happy with the decision taken by unisa,They forever delaying students allowances while it’s due to them as they have assignments to submit and they need data to access their online modules and lectures.. they also need prescribed books in time.. unisa is very incompetent..

    1. Thandi says:
      09/04/2022 at 12:28 am

I’m not happy because they (UNISA) knew that the contract will end on March. Instead of avoiding this situation they just kept on delaying things while we as students waiting to get that allowance so that we can buy textbooks, and Data to do research and submit assignments and on the other hand exams are around the corner.

      1. Ntxhupi says:
        10/04/2022 at 1:00 am

It is not good at all, they have stories all the time.I think they should have told us long time ago about the update.I’m not happy at all cause I don’t know how are they gonna do it,are we going to school to update or how? This is so frustrating cause it will delay the funds.

  17. Thapz says:
    08/04/2022 at 10:04 am

No I’m not happy with Unisa’s announcement as they will be delaying the payments and we we were suppose to receive our funds today the 08th of April. Now they will take longer

    1. Charity says:
      09/04/2022 at 6:58 am

I’m definitely with Tapz ND other students who disagree on that.. I have been asking my self why they not asking our banking details since I saw the announcement that they canceling their contract with Intellimali. Guess they decided to keep quiet just to frustrate us moreand inconvenience us more, as this snail pace is really frustrating.

  18. Basetsana Phutiagae says:
    08/04/2022 at 10:03 am

I am not happy about the UNISA announcement. Why did the University not have created that platform to capture our banking details during March so that we can get our allowances from the 8th April 2022?

    1. Nettly Maphothoma says:
      08/04/2022 at 10:48 pm

I’m not happy with the announcement Unisa made. They knew the contract was ending and could’ve opened the platform for us to register our bank account details. But then I’m not surprised Unisa has never taken its students seriously like other Universities.

  19. Siboniso says:
    08/04/2022 at 7:34 am

    When will it be paid

    1. Career Page says:
      08/04/2022 at 6:37 pm

No specific date. Unisa announcement just indicated that they will be paid this month.

      1. Charity says:
        09/04/2022 at 7:00 am

And I believe their “platform” will have “other technical problems” then we will get delayed till may..

    2. Sanele Nkwanyana says:
      08/04/2022 at 10:18 pm

When serious we don’t have even data to write assignment

    3. F. C Nthangeni says:
      09/04/2022 at 11:10 am

This should have been done a long time ago because now we have reached April and we still don’t have the allowances or the books needed for most of our modules. I mean it’s a great solution but it should have been communicated on time so that we don’t face any delays which often lead to frustrations. Unisa has a weak SRC and it is so disappointing to put faith in them because they have achieved nothing. Because of this late announcement payments might even be delayed and that’s not even the worst part of it all. Students have been struggling with data issues that have clearly not been sent since the year began but institutions like Vaal university are receiving data for 10 months straight while unisa students only receive data during exams which are quickly approaching. We are talking about an institution that fully represents the entire country not just by name but also by standards. Unisa is a disappointment and people don’t say it enough. They don’t do things on time, their systems are always crashing, their SRC body is a joke. It’s bad enough that final year students are abandoned to self teach during one of the most crucial year of their entire academics. Maybe it’s time we start being honest instead of brushing things aside just to keep the name clean.
