Purpose of the Programme
This apprenticeship programme is designed to train and develop learners to become qualified Millwrights, in line with the requirements of the relevant SETA (QCTO) and the National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB).
Key Responsibilities and Training Exposure
Successful learners will receive hands-on workplace training and exposure to the following areas:
• Plant and equipment maintenance according to discipline-specific requirements
• Use and understanding of plant maintenance documentation systems
• Planning and work management systems
• Compliance with safety management systems and emergency procedures
• Hazard identification and task risk assessments
• Participation in daily toolbox talks and morning meetings
• Root cause analysis and risk assessments to improve plant safety
• Maintaining housekeeping standards and correct waste disposal practices
• Providing feedback to supervisors on work progress
• Contributing to maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
• Teamwork, leadership development and personal skills growth
Minimum Requirements
• Completed Matric, N3 or equivalent qualification
• Pass in Mathematics, Science and English
• 0–1 year of relevant work experience
Skills and Competencies
• Willingness to learn and self-develop
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Strong safety awareness and accountability
• Basic workflow and action planning skills
• Ability to manage complexity and follow procedures
