Sassa Social Grants
Every month, the South African Social Security Agency distributes social grants to the needy South Africans. These grants ranges from old pension grant, disability grant, child support grant to military veteran grants.
The grant recipients collect their grants in various ways such as the Automatic Teller Machines (ATM), social grant mobile pay points, grocery retailers and Post Office among others.
Sassa recipients in numbers
By the end of 2018, Sassa has been distributing social grants to over 18 million recipients. This did not include the newly Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) which was launched as a result of the disastrous COVID-19 pandemic.
SRD grants collection channels
The SRD grant is distributed on different channels such as The South African Post Office, directly to the bank account and various retailers. Recently, more retailers have been added to the list of R350 grant collection points. If you are a R350 grant recipient, you may start collection your monies at Shoprite, Checkers, U-Save and selected OK Foods retailers. Sassa has increased the number of retailers from the one they used to have which was Boxer Superstores and Pick n Pay.

Social grants for the month of April 2022 will be paid as follows:
Older pension grant: 04 April 2022
Disability Grant: 05 April 2022
Child grant and other grants 06 April 2022
