Unisa Updates: ‘Not in my Name’ – Unisa is Concerned About False Advertising

Unisa Updates: The University of South Africa (Unisa) has released a cautionary message for students on false advertising and misleading information. They said that there are companies and social media pages falsely advertising Unisa information.

“It has come to our attention that some companies and social media pages have been falsely advertising Unisa online information and various services to assist Unisa students.” Unisa announcement.

Fraudulent Suspicion

The University also stated that these companies either solicit money from students or make money online without the students benefiting. “In the process, companies either solicit money fraudulently from students or make money through online advertising with no benefit to students.”

Unisa cautioned students that they are not associated with such companies.

Official Unisa Platforms

They further requested students to use the official Unisa platforms. “We request that students only use official Unisa sites and platforms as any other platforms will provide you with incorrect information and/or act illegally which will be harmful to your studies.”

The announcement continues “Unisa will always use official communication channels (eg Unisa website, myUnisa, Unisa social media platforms, myLife e-mail) to communicate with students.”

The University also said that they will hand over the names of companies misleading students. “Unisa is in the process of handing over the names of the companies who try to mislead students to our Legal Department.”
