The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga has yesterday announced the matric results for 2022 academic year examinations. Among other things she announced the matric pass rate per province, top achievers and the overall pass rate of the learners.
Here are the Matric Pass Rate Per Province
- Free State — 88.5%
- Gauteng — 84.4%
- KZN — 83%
- Western Cape — 81.4%
- North West — 79.8%
- Eastern Cape — 77.3%
- Mpumalanga — 76.8%
- Northern Cape — 74.2%
- Limpopo — 72.1%

Below are the options that you can take with you grade 12 results
Learnerships
You can find learnerships for people with grade 12 results. Learnerships are programmes where you can be trained at the same time getting paid. Learnerships mostly run for a period of 12 months. When you exit a learnership programme, you may have opportunities to be absorbed as permanent employee or for a longer contract.
Higher Certificate Studies
You may register with institutions of higher learning such as universities, university of technology for higher certificate programmes. The qualification you get from these courses can lend you a good job.

National Diploma
Here also, you can register with colleges, universities, universities of technology or TVET colleges for diplomas in the fields that you qualify for. Diplomas are some of most recognised qualifications on land.
Bachelor’s Degrees
A bachelor’s degree is a basic degree you can get after completion of such studies with universities and universities of technology. It can get you a good job and also add value to your life. With the knowledge and skills gained, you can even employ yourself.
Workforce Absorption
Jobs for people with matric with no experience. Most of job opportunities these days require someone with matric. Acquiring matric certificate puts you in an advantage of getting better offer than if you do not have matric.

TVET Colleges
Technical And Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges an entry requirement is just grade 9. The Western Cape Government website state that “If having a good paying job or a business of your own is 1 of your goals, then studying at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college might be suited for you.” That’s it; I need not to say anything more.
