How to Apply for General School Assistant Online on SA Youth Mobi
PYEI Phase 4 applications are open from 26 September 2022 to 14 October 2022. If you are interested in applying for School Assistant Or General School Assistant positions read further below.
The Department of Basic Education issued a statement indicating that the application for Presidential Youth Employment Initiative commonly known as PYEI will open the applications from 26 September 2022. Those interested in applying for the programme have to apply online.

“All the youth aged 18-34 years residing within a radius of 5 km from a school, are requested to register on SAYouth.mobi and apply for the Education Assistant and General School Assistant job opportunities. There is no cost to the youth for accessing SAYouth.mobi, as the site is zero-rated. There will be NO APPLICATIONS AT SCHOOLS.”
How to Apply for General School Assistant Online
Step1: Go to the SAYouth website
Step 2: Register an account
Step 3: Log in with your details
Step 4: In the search bar, you should type ‘school assistant’ or search for the name of the school closest to you
Step 5: A list of jobs available in your area will come up which will also include the opportunity cards for the schools that are closest to you. Only apply at schools that you have easy access to
Step 6: Click the ‘read more’ button which would enable you to see further details about the job
If you are interested in the opportunity, click ‘apply now’
Step 7: Follow the prompts and provide the relevant information to complete your application
You will then receive confirmation that your application has been successful
Should you be shortlisted, you will be contacted through SMS or a phone call by the school.
Do I qualify for PYEI phase 4 for 2022?
Here are the qualifying criteria for the previous phase which may be applicable for the current cycle:
Candidate must be of the 18-35 years of age.
Must be residing in the Republic of South Africa and to hold a valid South African identity document or work permit.
Residing within 5KM radius from the school
Not receiving government grants or benefits such as NSFAS, Funza Lushaka and the R350 SRD Grant.
Must have no criminal record
Not unfairly advantaged above others due to staff of SGB members knowing them.
Must not be participating on any learnership programme.
Not involved in any misconduct during Phase I Phase II
