Proposal: From R350 to R624 SRD Threshold

The Social Development Minister has made proposal that people earning up to R634 per month should qualify for R350 SRD Grant.

This comes after the new regulations left out a lot of people not qualifying to get the grant as the threshold to qualify for the grant has been reduced to R350.

Past Qualifying Criteria

In 2020 when the SRD Grant was established, it was indicated that those earning R595 or less per month can qualify for the grant. Under the revised regulations, only those getting R350 or less per month can qualify for the R350 grant.

Reconfirmation for SRD Grant

Did you know that after every three months, SRD applicants have to reconfirm their applications to Sassa? Yes, the new guidelines for the current cycle of R350 grant require that applicants reconfirm the need for the grant after every three months.

It has been three month already since the current cycle has started. In July, applicants have to reconfirm their applications. According to Sassa, reconfirming applications, let’s Sassa know that the applicants still needs the R350 grant and they still qualify.

How can one reconfirm R350 Grant

There are full details on reconfirmation of R350 here. Read all about Sassa SRD reconfirmation for July 2022.

How to Apply for the R350 Grant?

Applications may be logged on the SRD website. To apply go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za and follow the instructions.

So true what u saying. How can they expect pple to earn 350 a month to qualify for this grant. Pple that’s gonna buy food for their kids gets declined, but the druggies gets their 350. This government must come right.

Sassa declined lost of people which is unfair cause some of us we gets sometimes help from our family’s but they said we got source of income

    1. Jenny says:
      14/07/2022 at 7:50 am

So true my reason for August 2021 til March 2022 was UIF registered. I did so much running around borrowing money to get this sorted out. The UIF offices sorted this out with them January 2022 n they told me i would be paid and now after i have reapplied for April 2022 they i say i was declined due to alternate income sources. My brother puts in money my account n i transfer back to him, so it stays open n he pays my bank charges. They are just cheating us and stealing the money.

  8. Janine says:

Me also I’m now a single mother with 4 kids I only get for 2 sassa money I did get declined for June Also for income but I don’t work that 350 did help me a lot with a 350 you can’t even by oil than you only going have 250 350 is not a lot of money by in the end of the day it helps a lot more problem they make that you must not have a income of 350 but that money to buyer you food can even last for a week

  9. John says:
    13/07/2022 at 7:17 pm

      14/07/2022 at 6:42 am

It is true your family is help you to pay your bills, they saw money in your account you get rejected. Usselles government always oppress black people!

    3. Tashrique James Smith says:
      14/07/2022 at 7:18 am

I also only got in June but once I’m also waiting on these backlogs of the grant
Why is it even necessary to check people’s Bank accounts Nd the say that alternative income wen clearly it’s not a constant amount I mean it has absolutely no relevance to the fact that we unemployed are being rejected or being told that we have an income we do not want our bank accounts being checked if you government ppl stop stealing the money that maybe those of us who are really unemployed and need of the 350 grant will receive

  11. Nonkazimulo says:

Yes, that proposal of R350 to R624 is very good because R350 is not enough for a family, but it help us to get something to eat, if it can raise up to R624 the hunger will die, I think the government will help us in this hunger. Thank you

I don’t understand why sassa DECLINE me for Alternative source of income identify i want sassa to prove because since I’ve born I’ve never been working and i don’t have any family member or child maintenance income the only income is sass a child support grant we are suffering our children are dying of hunger which option now either to go sell my body to steal or kill i will end up in jail or death maybe missing sassa is really making us to suffering decline us for no reason sassa said people will qualify who really need the money so how do you prove that the person really need the money most of the drug addiction people are receiving R350 and us that doesn’t smoke are the once struggling and suffering I NEED ANSWERS FROM SASSA SINCE MARCH AM NOT RECEIVING ANY INCOME FROM SASSA ME AND MY DAUGHTER ALMOST GOT RAPE AND KILL BECAUSE WE ARE WALKING UP AND DOWN BEGGING PEOPLE FOR FOOD

  15. Calvin Lunga says:
    13/07/2022 at 2:11 pm

Thank you for extending 350 limit to 624, it gave those who are in need of SRD grants to be APPROVED so that they can provide for their families . Thanks Lindiwe Zulu. Apportunities comes once in a lifetime whether they misused it by NYAOPES is their business, they will need it, when time is finally over. Like in March when they change requirements status. Opportunities comes once in life time. CALVIN LUNGA

  16. Marr M m says:
    13/07/2022 at 1:39 pm

Yes the people who get 350 are the nyaope people those who worked before covid and have no income now the can’t get it cause their employer have not removed from data

  17. Zandile Molebatsi says:
    13/07/2022 at 12:03 pm

Is SASSA aware most of people approved are nyaope people, is SASSA aware they are depriving people who really need the srd grant excluding them in the line??? I think SASSA should should start approving people based on their needs individually and not because parents supports them or have financially help from families it’s unfair, we have needs that our families can’t provide because themselves have their own things.

    1. Johanna says:
      13/07/2022 at 12:34 pm

I agree parents or families can’t always help so sometimes they can and sometimes they can’t I agree that they must look into people that don’t work at all ND struggle to get work and should approve them whether they get help from parents or family or not

    2. John says:
      13/07/2022 at 7:20 pm

How long did u wait after ur first application for sassa grant I’m waiting a month now I need the money??

    3. James says:
      14/07/2022 at 7:29 am

This is true the government is giving the nyaope Koppe the grant and depriving those who really need the money rejecting Nd claiming that they receiving alternative income when so what if our families are helping us out y is 200-400 Rand considered an income it clearly not even a sustainable source can’t do anything with 200 we need answers as to y

Hi there, I have been waiting for my R350 grant to be approved since April 2022 till July 2022 which still stated pending. So when Sassa confirm all recipients has been approve that is a big fat lie. Only June 2022 has been approved but when I go to supermarkets like checkers, picknpay the money is not available. This is seriously frustrating and annoying as we all suffer from hunger and our basic needs.
See below a screen shot for today from application status and from checkers showing error or no available funds
