The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) reported that they have received almost 7 million SRD applications since they opened for grant reapplications. The online application system opened on 23 April 2022 at 12am.

More applications expected
Sassa has anticipated a further 3 million applications during a 3-day period following the report that they have received 7 million SRD applications. “We will be able to receive about another 3 million applications in the next 3 days.” Said Sassa.
Have you applied?
Now the question to you is, have you applied? If you have applied in April, you will be eligible to get payment for the month of April. Those applying from May will be eligible to get payments from May when their grant applications are approved.
Do I have to reapply every month?
Sassa indicated that you do not have to reapply every month for you to get the grant. But you must check if you still need the grant or not. “There is no need for clients to apply each month. However please check the website after every 3 months to answer a few questions and check if you still need the grant. If you do not need the grant, please do not apply.”
