Sassa News Sassa Updates Social Grants Updates

Sassa has confirmed that the Post Office will not be issuing payments for some social grants from 11 May 2022. On a media release dated 12 May 2022, Sassa apologized to the beneficiaries on the inconveniences caused by the challenges beyond their control.

“The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) regrets to confirm that as from 11 May 2022, the cash pay points at which social grant clients normally access their social grant funding, will not be serviced – as a result of challenges beyond SASSA’s control.”

The agency said that the challenge also extends to the Post Office, hence the Post Office has earlier said they will no longer pay out the R350 grants. They advised SRD beneficiaries not to go to the Post Office to access their Social Relief of Distress Grants.

“Clients of the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress of R350 are advised not to go to the post office to access the funds which have not yet been collected.”
